On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Town quiet

The foot of one crow
Steve took Youngest Daughter to San Francisco for their annual Christmas shopping trip. They have been doing this for about 25 years -- so long that YD doesn't remember not going! They seem to enjoy the commotion of enormous crowds, lights and decorated windows and streets full of holiday spirit.  It's their big father-daughter event which includes dinner at the St. Francis Hotel.  Wow!

In the meantime, I had the day to myself and there are definite advantages to that. While they were doing city-noisy, I was doing town-quiet, moving through the day at my own pace. I made a big pot of turkey vegetable soup, stored three extra quarts of fresh broth in the freezer and filled a container of turkey meat for sandwiches and casseroles. I can remember other years when I let the turkey just sit in the 'fridge taking up way too much space.  Not this year!
