On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The busy season

It's started, the holiday craziness, I mean.  I'm trying to pace myself better this year and began today by ordering the big stuff that I won't be able to locate in town. I do try hard to shop in the community, but some things just aren't here and until they are I go online.

Oldest daughter is hosting a Christmas morning brunch this year so our Thanksgiving cooking was all the major culinary effort we need to make.  Yay!  The brunch event will be a change from family tradition, but we're all looking forward to it.

I opted out of my weekly watercolor class until the new semester begins in January.  The class is free, offered through a senior center but sponsored by our county community college and therefore open to anyone above the age of 18.  Dang, but I qualify on both venues!  Students come and go, don't get dropped unless they miss class for several months and grades are never given.  Therefore, while I like to be a finisher, when time is short that's an obvious place to cut.  So yay again, I carved out an extra three hours for myself.

I'm gonna get it right this year, I'm not going to be a frazzled mess on Christmas Day!

  1. Enjoy your holiday and get back to classes when you are free of the holiday season, what a lovely thing to look forward to.

  2. You are right, Jill. Going to class now would be forcing the issue. Looking forward to returning in January, well, I already am!

  3. Sounds like you've made a good beginning. I'll be frazzled but only because being at my daughter's for several days before Christmas with all the hubbub she loves will frazzle anyone.
