On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Start of the week

Youngest Daughter played softball in Special Olympics this weekend and has been busy and happy. She's 37 now and Steve and I don't always attend her games (bad Mommy, bad Daddy) so it was a bit of a respite for us instead. I needed it. The kid is high maintenance, the week had been eventful (San Bruno fire, 9/11 anniversary) and I was feeling tapped out.

The weekend was warm and sunny with a cool down starting and maybe even some rain later in the week. Wouldn't that be special! Hopefully the coming week will be "normal." I have several projects underway and would like to plow right through them and get caught up a bit. You know the feeling, don't you???

  2. Best wishes for a full recovery! Doesn't it seem that going through a difficult time makes all the good ones seem even more precious?

  5. Every parent needs a break and should have one. No bad mommy/daddy there. Most people get to quit full-time parenting so I would say you are doing super just occasionally skipping something.
