On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Not laboring today

There's nothing quite as great as a three-day weekend. Unless it's a four-day weekend.

This year is different, of course, because so many are out of work and would loved to have been employed today. I currently have four clients going to food giveaways because they are either unable to find a job or the job they have is only for limited hours. Considering how few hours I work myself, that's almost half my clients these days. (And no, they cannot afford the cost of psychotherapy either, but as victims of crimes they can tap into criminal restitution funds.)

Today, however, I was not working. Our oldest daughter and her boys were here. We sat out on the deck and the kids played with the chickens. Steve grilled classic American hamburgers. Youngest grandson made a really, luscious banana cream pie. (How I wish these kids lived closer....!)

Demi fell asleep in church again yesterday and all I could see was the tip of her nose and the top of her head. But I loved the first line of one of the hymns... "All creatures of our God and king...." I took it as a hymn for dogs!
