On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Just enough

Yesterday's high temperature was 73º F., which supports my contention that this has been a nippy summer overall. It was 63º in my office this morning and I was nodding my uh-huhs with vigor, just to keep warm.

All of which means our late summer harvest is barely poking along. But we have enough. In our little back yard we can pick enough green beans to accompany one meal each week. If I search I can pluck one tomato each day, sometimes two. We have all the radishes we would ever want (not a family favorite) and I've been picking one full cup or more of blackberries every other day. I wish we could eat the sunflowers because they are producing abundantly - 15 open flowers on one stalk so far. The birds are enjoying them.

I can't tell if this is the trickle leading to abundance or if I need to be satisfied with the steadiness of something garden fresh each day. But there's one good thing -- the chickens will start laying their eggs in the next month or two and then we will have.....
omelettes!
