On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

To the woods

Collage has always been of great interest to me but it is not one of my great skills.

My watercolor classmates are taking three weeks to investigate collage, which pleased me mightily, even if I didn't know what I was doing.

This piece exemplified my feelings at the moment -- Run, run to the woods! Escape the concrete jungle! Tear through the veil of vines and branches - which could also be a vale of vines and branches - to get to the other side!

I felt it deeply even if I didn't know how to execute it. What did I do? I scheduled a camping trip with my daughter...

  1. I think you did great! And I like the idea of running from all the concrete to get back to your comfort zone!

  2. I feel the same way about collage. You did a terrific job. I hope we will see more from the three weeks of collage with your wc class!
