On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Just drawing in the rain

It rains, I draw. On Saturday, just before the first storm hit, I attended a funeral and drew my way through it. Hopefully I was subtle, I'm not aware that anyone noticed or was disturbed, and it helped me to be more focused.

That's a feature of Attention Deficit Disorder, the inattentive kind, it really helps to do something that will filter out the many distractions and narrow attention to just two things -- the ongoing service with multiple speakers and the drawing on the page.

Then the rain started. It not only rained, it poured. These were gullywashers, hour after rainy hour for two entire days. So what's a mother to do? I drew.

  1. You are getting the people down pretty well. You have a side of the man's face and it came out quite well.

I wish drawing worked for me like that. I have to zero in on the speaker and even then I miss parts. I need things restated and they don't tend to do that in speeches and sermons and such.

    Sorry you lost a friend.

  2. These are very nice drawings, and I'm sure Elaine was very pleased with them. I've been thinking of getting one of those little jointed people - your drawing drew me closer to getting one (pun intended). And the dog, how sweet! nancy
