Nobody told me
I was so delighted with the daffodils blooming yesterday that I plucked one to use as a watercolor model. Nobody ever told me how difficult daffodils are to draw and paint. There's some tricky foreshortening, but worse, some nearly impossible shading. I found a book to guide me when I try again, which I will. Failure today just means I have to paint daffodils over and over and over again until I get it.
More rain is in our area this weekend. It's not as much as last week, no ginormous storms like the east coast is experiencing, but enough to fill our reservoirs to overflowing. One of these days the drought will be canceled and then we'll all breathe easier. It's hard to live when there's a worry about the basics, like having enough water.
I think they came out quite well. We are getting the rain too and I am so happy as our drought has been pretty serious here in Arizona too. Now my husband won't be so worried our well will run dry.
ReplyDeleteMy dad used to say California needed to build some more reservoirs but they really haven't partly due to people not wanting the ecology messed up. Too many people and too few reservoirs means you'll always have water shortages and I'll still move there when I get the chance! Neither droughts nor earthquakes will keep me away.
