My latest good read
Elizabeth Berg has been one of my most favorite authors for decades. I always read or reread at least one of her novels each year. What I particularly like is the detail in her descriptions, little bits that are vividly alive.
This novel has several threads, each neatly woven into the others. There's a challenging mother-daughter relationship, the recovering of the main character after her husband's unexpected death, finding new purpose in her life and others that I don't want to mention for fear of giving too much away. Let's just say the main character has some major decisions to make and we vote and root for her all along the way, but the outcome is never easily guessed.
