Drawing in the rain
A new series of storms has hit coastal northern California. It's raining rather impressively right this moment and more storms are stacked up across the Pacific. This is my favorite weather!
So why do I like it so much? Because it's an invitation to stay home, hunker down in front of the telly or fireplace and just draw! So I did.
Such a beautiful little cluster of leaves. Your shading underneath the stem is perfect. Just curious about what kind of paper you used. Looks like you got a lot of tooth there. Nice maiden voyage with the Prismacolors. That's what I use, too.
ReplyDeleteNice texture of the pencils on the paper. I like the way this came out - something fun about it! And I like the way you did the veins on the leaves.
ReplyDeleteThank you both!
ReplyDeletePhthaloblu -- I used an 8x8 Holbein sketchbook. The paper is not particularly good quality but it seemed to work for Prismacolors.
What a wonderful start to what will probably become a new love affair for you. You did a really nice job with the shading and choice of colors. nancy
ReplyDeleteBarbara - I like both the texture and shading. Hoping to see more of colored pencil in your sketches.
ReplyDeleteGreat maiden voyage with the Prismacolors!
ReplyDeleteI didn't think folks outside of the south knew what 'hunker down' meant! Lovely drawing. It looks like colored pencil is a good media for you. Stay warm and dry. We are hunkered down here in the mid-atlantic too!
