On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Brrrrr!

It's a cold, dreary day here in northern California with occasional sprinkles. I wanted to spend some time with my daughter and decided to show her how she could add a journaling page in the style of Teesha Moore. She was able to follow most of the directions and seemed proud to have some new skills in hand for future use.

While she was cutting, pasting and drawing, I was working next to her on a page of my own. All this effort got us happily through a long hour on a dismal day.

I'm still in a funk because I'm sure I'm losing work hours at Juvenile Hall but I won't know until next week. In the meantime, I'm trying to keep moving forward and look for options and opportunities.

California is in such a financial rut right now that there's not much hope in the public sector, nonprofits are going broke and business is down so even the private sector is struggling.

These are hard times, the likes of which I've never seen. And that's a true statement because, in my lifetime, nothing this bad has happened before.

  2. Lovely page! Sorry to hear about the economic troubles; they are certainly happening in the state of Texas too. Though not to the same degree. I moved from Idaho because I started seeing the trend there, and it is very bad there. Good luck. I do hope you are able to keep your hours!

  5. What a fun page. I hear about Californias troubles but I am here in Arizona and they are having the same ones. Closing parks, condensing schools, you name it, they're doing it. Why can't home prices fall more so I can buy one there in southern California?
