On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The layered look

It's the end of the first week of December. Here in northern California that's the perfect time to plant daffodil bulbs, which I did.

Under the primroses, just planted today, are 40 yellow daffodils waiting for their moment. The cold wet days of winter will make them very happy.

I'm a slow gardener, working in just one half-barrel at a time. This one lives near the front sidewalk, near some mailboxes. There's always more to do, always, always, but that was my task for today and, by golly, I got it done!

In the meantime, I'm working my way through my 2010 Moleskine planner. Of course I have hopes and dreams for the new year -- don't we all? -- and what better place to remind myself of them than as I turn the pages and enter meetings and obligations throughout the year.

  1. I love the sketch and the sentiment.

  2. That's a really great idea. And then during the year you get to come across each page you've done. I love that idea.
