The calm week
My favorite week of the year: the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. Church this morning was sparsely attended (surprise, surprise) but those who were there seemed in good spirits. Steve was the celebrant and preacher this morning at Trinity Episcopal Church, Sonoma, California, and I tried to capture him in the pulpit. I obviously haven't learned how to draw hands and arms yet!
It always pleases me to know that we made it through another year, and even more, survived the hullaballoo of another Christmas. I enjoyed the season more this year than I typically do, but there's still a sense of relief that the next one is a full year away.
Steve and I were together in the pew on Christmas Eve (it's wonderful having him retired!) so I was focused on the altar at St. Mary's, Napa, California.
Beautiful altar picture! Don't worry, hands and arms are really hard, for me, too.
ReplyDeleteYou got the face and head well and most people think that's the hard part. Practice on your hands and your daughter's and then you'll be ready to draw them on a public figure next time.
ReplyDeleteI don't have or need a calendar like you have but it sure sounds fun. I guess if I open my journal and actually start putting something into it, it will be the same thing. With all the things around me, I find it hard to find something I want to draw. How do you decide? (besides the dogs, lol).
Thank you both.
ReplyDeleteTimaree -- I don't have a deciding method and sometimes I get as stuck as you do! Mostly I just try to find something that I am capable of!
