On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Below normal

It's so incredibly nice to have weather cooler than the norm for this time of year. Our windows are open, a slight breeze wafts through every few minutes and there's a sense of energy in the household. I've been cleaning, Steve is cooking and the dogs are just chillin'.

We began our day at St. Mary's in Napa. Then came home and functioned, did things, got things crossed off the to-do list.

I created a little art nook in my office. Now I have a table and chair by a window. There's a lamp if I'm working in the evening. My Art Bin is next to me, loaded with supplies -- in addition to all I have on the shelves around the room. I can see what's going on outdoors and, best of all, the occasional house finch comes to visit the bird feeder attached to the window.

Next task: Draw!

  1. We've been above normal for weeks. Well, we'll see what we get in Simi Valley tomorrow as we are heading out there for a week. Glad you got a cooler day.
