On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Rain in May?

We've had two days of rain and more on the way, rather unusual for northern California in May - but greatly appreciated since we're officially in a drought with restricted watering.

Working so many more hours in Juvenile Hall is exhausting me. I draw while I'm there because I'm sitting with kids during an art class (I'm not the teacher) but posting less here. I've taught some of the kids how to draw Zentangles, which they usually enjoy. I present it as a way to stay focused and calm. And then I go home for a nap!

I've been drawing this cow all week. What's with that?
