Toward my goal
I know exactly where I want to go with this sketch journaling thing. I want to be able to take my sketchbook anywhere I go and draw what is in front of me at the moment. I'm not there yet, but each day I draw a single item or work from a photo reference, I'm hoping that I'm gaining the skills I'll need to draw my life.
Today's attempt is from a snapshot Steve took last May when we were in Ireland. How I wanted to be able to keep a journal then! I did my best but every effort was another frustration.
I chose this picture because I was emotionally attached to the event and because I need to practice drawing buildings.
There are some wonderful buildings here where I live. After I finish the sketchbook I'm working in now I want to begin a new one dedicated to the community. The weather will be consistently nice then and, after another 100 pages of practice, I might have a clue as to what I'm doing!
Was the "great brown bread" wheaten bread by any chance? Lovely drawing, it reminds me of lots of buildings back home in Ireland.
ReplyDeleteI'm learning to draw architecture, too, Barbara! Isn't it fun? I love your post; it's totally charming!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought this looked familiar---didn't eat there but saw place that looked like this when I was there---good start for you!!!
ReplyDeleteA great start and a great goal, I can't imagine leaving home without a sketchbook...or two! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI like the colors. The drawing is quite nice. Me I can not do buildings yet. I get all the lines wrong.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the learning to draw buildings. This is one of my goals too. Nice work on this drawing. The vibrant colors add warmth to the architecture.
ReplyDeletegreat work - love the vibrant colours.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your comments.
ReplyDeleteAbout the bread, angeltreats, I just don't know. I became obsessed with Irish bread. It was always brown, had wonderful texture and raised the mundane into a whole new category. I wish I could find it here.
