Back to work Monday

I just love this book! I read it when it first came out and now I'm reading it again. While it isn't unusual for me to reread books - I do it often - it is unusual to start the book all over again so quickly. But I'm enjoying it that much.

 I've become an avid journaler myself  and books like this give me great new ideas as well as more confidence in the style I'm beginning to develop on my own. 

I've kept written journals for decades. I wrote pages and pages, most often the same old boring stuff, but I never so much as drew a single line or constructed the tiniest doodle. I didn't know how to draw! Now that I'm learning it is becoming easier to balance short writings with quick drawings and that's a habit I hope to maintain until the end of time.

I finished my homework, due tomorrow.  I couldn't fit it all on my scanner but this is most of it. It's a pencil sketch of a stem from the plum tree that lives next to my driveway. It's very similar to the drawing I made a couple weeks ago of the flowering quince, but the branches and blossoms themselves have similarities. I enjoyed drawing them both and am particularly interested in learning how to draw and paint botanicals.
