On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Rain, lovely rain

I finished the homework that is due on Tuesday. All I had to do was draw one box in two-point perspective - shading was optional, multiple boxes also optional.

I don't know how to measure for the cast shadows so I have to wait until we're taught that skill. In the end, I made a cluster of boxes and added one doorway just to see how that would work. I was comfortable about the shading and pretended the light source was coming from the hidden side. Assignment done!

We woke up to real, real rain this morning, the kind that sounds so lovely drumming on any available surface. This wasn't like yesterday's little shower, this was RAIN!

The downside is that we're so water depleted here in northern California that the experts are saying we would need 15 days of rain in each of the next three months in order to dig ourselves out of the dry pit we're in. That ain't gonna happen.
