On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Short winter days

No rain, they missed the forecast again. I was so hoping because we so need it!

The new semester doesn't start for another two weeks. I am determined to dedicate some real time in 2009 to learning how to draw because my lack of basic skill holds me back every time I take a class.

In the meantime, I'm faithfully adding pages to my new sketchbook. Today I drew the common house finch which has taken residence in both my front and back trees. I have several feeders out and they love my cookin' -- nyjer seed, black sunflower and a general mix. They're fun to watch and I have lots of opportunity.
