On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Omygod, the weather!

Today's walking - 2.5 miles with Steve, Brix, Demi and Parisse

Our temperatures are suddenly ten degrees above normal. The weather is gorgeous -- bright and sunny, jacket weather with an even warmer day expected tomorrow. We do need rain, a lot of rain, but if we can't have that then this is a wonderful substitute!

I don't even know if you can tell what I drew today. It's supposed to be a leftover Christmas bow and turned out to be just about the most difficult project I've attempted. There are a lot of lines in a bow, lots of shadows, light that bounces off some spots and misses others, lines that turn in and out and stop, then start again. Enough to give you a headache if you think about it too long!

  1. Lovely work, Barbara. Yes, I could tell it was a Christmas bow...and I can imagine how hard it was to do. Congratulations, Kim

Yes of course we can tell what it is! :) Nice job and, like you say, not the easiest subject.

  7. Just so you know, I knew what it was before you said so. It's one of those drawings you will like when you have some time away from it. Good job! Enjoy your NorCal weather. It is never REALLY bad! I miss it.
