On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Bits and pieces

Today's walking - 20 minutes with Demi

A little storm is moving this way so it was deeply cloudy and cold all day today. I took all three dogs to their weekly play date with four other dogs. Don't tell me dogs don't have friends! All I have to do is say the names - Marano, Elektra, Tiona and Violetta - and my gang rushes to the door, starts whimpering when we drive around that last corner and flies from the car when the door swings open. Stampede!

I drew bits and pieces of furniture this evening while watching "Law and Order" reruns. Sometimes, when I don't think I can get the entire piece in accurate perspective, it's better to focus on what I can do successfully while I learn. In the end this became a fun page to work on instead of one more disappointment. And I'm thrilled with myself that I drew every day during the first week of 2009!

  1. Good lesson and often a good interesting choice, like this post, quite intriguing.

I love doing focused stuff... learned it from Leonardo's (!)notebook ... draw many noses, or eyes, or chins - just those. His advice works for everything; and you do end up with something like your chair arms/table legs nice composition and a fun day.
