On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

My favorite night of the year

While the rest of you are out there partying I'm going to do what I always do -- cozy up in flannel jammies and watch the ball drop from the comfort of my living room.

I wouldn't have it any other way. I do promise to work on not being such a homebody during 2009 but I'm not extending that to end of year festivities. I just love being home!

We'll play cards and then I'm going to break out the cheese and crackers and eggnog. Finally, I'll polish my New Year's resolutions so I can wake up tomorrow strongly pointed in a chosen direction. This is an OLD people's New Year's Eve!

I'm going to wake up to a new sketchbook and a commitment to add one page every day. That one I intend to keep.

I'll also look back on 2008, a wonderful year for me personally. In 2008 we got Demi back, got the exterior of our home painted and the yard cleaned up. I completed an art class. We went to Ireland and Steve also went to the Midwest and to Rome. I SURVIVED another year, not bad considering. I feel so blessed!
