On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Pigeon love

I painted pigeons again, this time in my watercolor class.  I'm trying to apply what little I understand in color theory by combining the purple background with the orange and brown feet, feathers and eyes. It's supposed to work....

It's been gray, gray, gray in northern California and that translates to cold, cold, cold -- or at least what passes for cold around here.  I've been wrapped in an afghan like some old lady, never really warm, and the furnace keeps clicking back on.  We're living with a Spare-the-Air warning so logs in the fireplace are a no-no.

  1. Very nice composition. The background compliments the pigeons wonderfully.

  3. Hello again Barbara, I just noticed that you became a follower of my blog. I am honored. I hope you liked the Breast Cancer Boogie illustration. So people don't see the humor in it. I guess you've got to be in the middle of it to fully appreciate it's absurd humor. Thanks again, I am truly honored.

    P.s. I like your pigeons.
