Nesting before winter
Ohmygod, I spent a gazillion hours getting my computer and scanner to talk to each other but if this posts, I've finally done it and life can resume!
I painted this red-winged blackbird in my watercolor class this afternoon (as the Fed-Ex truck with my new scanner on board drove by the window). I forgot to bring my Pitt pens but had a black pastel pencil so I used that on the edges and to feather things out, so to speak. I like the effect so it was a happy accident.
It was great to be watercoloring again. I've been attending class faithfully but things haven't been turning out and I've been distracted by my mixed media class and all the commotion at home getting the exterior of our house painted and simple landscaping completed before the winter rain. And I guess this would officially be mixed media too since I used watercolor, watercolor pencils, graphite and pastel.
I really like this! Love the effect of the pastel pencil with the watercolours.

ReplyDeleteBarbara, your red winged blackbird is fabulous...I love the the colors that you used!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I love the little sparkle in his eye!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. You really used your mixed media well!
ReplyDeleteI love your blackbird. I think you picked a background for him that really shows him off.
ReplyDeleteThis painting made me hum with pleasure. My husband asked why I was saying "Hmmmm, hmmmm. hmmmm." The combination of materials just grabs me. Somehow you know when the artist pulled off perfection.
