Learning something new
We're beginning linoleum block printing in my mixed media class. I carved out this red-winged blackbird and am ready to start the second block -- with the yellow part of the wing, feet, eye, beak and part of the branch. This has been a fun project and, once I thoroughly understand how the separate parts are printed together, I expect to carve many more blocks.
Looks like fun, and you've done a really nice job on the block. Can't wait to see the finished print!
ReplyDeleteTerrific bird - can't wait to see you build your image.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Barbara!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I hope you show us more block printing!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I hadn't thought of layering.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! Half the fun of printing, I think, is the process. Can't wait to see the finished piece!
ReplyDeleteGood job! I remember, from years ago, how much fun lino prints are, and the more colors and layers the merrier! I hope you enjoy the process thoroughly, as much as we will enjoy seeing the finished print.
ReplyDeleteIt's excellent, Barbara - looks to me as if you've taken naturally to the skill of carving a block. I love the effect that woodblock printing gives and am very envious!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried this. Your bird turned out really well, I think.
