On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Bird stage

I'm apparently going through my bird stage these days.  I'm definitely not a birder, although I wish I were.  I learned that in January when I attended a one-day bird/art workshop.  While everyone else was going, "Ooh, look at that green-throated whatchamacallit" and busily sketching lines in their little drawing books, I was saying, "Where, what tree?"

I will say that the few birds I can identify I spot more frequently now.  Not so with the chickadee which is abundant in our area of northern California, but I've never seen one.  This one came from a photo reference so now I at least know what to look for.  When I see it, you'll hear about it!
