On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Where are my tomatoes?

I'm not the only one around here complaining that the tomatoes aren't doing much this season.

In the hope that art journaling is a form of prayer I focused on my one sad plant and hope it will begin to thrive.

  1. This is the best drawing/journaling of the bunch! Loving your blog - and best wishes on the tomato. Same wishful thinking/prayers here in southern California.

  2. Poor tomato. He sure looks whipped. Could all the fires have done something to the air? or to the pollinators? Isn't ash alkaline or is it acid? Guess I am no help for your tomato. At least you got to enjoy drawing it.

  3. The only tomatoes that do well in our garden are ones that have sowed themselves - in gutters, compost heaps etc...hope yours flourishes - and I do believe that observing, appreciating and recording, ie. art journalling, is prayer!
