On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

More leaves

In my watercolor class this afternoon I stuck with my Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils because I like the vibrant colors. I enjoy drawing too and pencils, even watercolor pencils, are, well, pencils!

I layered and layered but eventually some of the leaves, at least, carried greens I could appreciate. These are local nectarines, deeply blushed and juicy ripe.

Beulie's new parents are back from vacation and looking forward to bringing her home. Oh, she's going to have a wonderful life -- they have other dogs, several acres of land, various animals and turkeys. (She has virtually no prey drive so this will be of interest to her but not a problem to them). Her new dad is a retired veterinarian, how good is that! The only problem is that her new forever home is in Napa County and she's been a Sonoma Valley girl -- the rivalry is real but I guess we can all handle it. The exchange will happen on Sunday. I miss her already.....

  1. love the painting--you're getting good at those greens and the leaves. I really enjoy the inktense penicils too. :)

What wonderful story about Beulie's new forever home! Isn't it a great thing that dogs don't have the same rivalries that people do? All they want is love, food, shelter, love and a good tummy rub. Cheers!

  6. Great painting. I wouldn't have thought Derwent pencils. Your greens really look nice.

I hope Beulie loves her new home. Our Sarah loves to run her 40 acres. I don't always like it as she gets some sores running into stuff trying to catch rabbits but they are really minor (any little boy would get them too) compared to the fun she has. She's caught a few rabbits but doesn't eat them. For her, it's the chase. It sounds like Beulie will have a secure home and plenty of care too. I have cousins who live in Sonoma; they are a bit uppity but what can you say, they're family! Lol.
