On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Mid-summer pears

I'm still working on the elusive (to me) fruit trees, I just don't know how to either draw or paint them the way I see them. This pear tree, in a friend's yard, is quite young, about my height with at least 30 small pears under development. It has its own fence so the dogs don't pull off the fruit the way they did last year.

Dogs love fruit! Grapes are toxic but most others are well tolerated. We never purposely feed our animals anything but their kibble but, given the opportunity, they forage for whatever's available.

After three truly scorching days we're beginning to cool down a bit. Anything below 90º F is more than welcome now.

  1. very pretty. I keep saying this but your colors are really well chosen! possiblely working in the shadows a bit will give you more of that 'real' look?
