On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Let sleeping dogs lie (so you can paint them)

I didn't name my Brixy-Boy but he's a true Wine Country dog. The Brix scale is used to measure the sugar content of fruit -- in this case, grapes -- so the person who named him knew what s/he was doing.

At any rate, Brix was my first born puppy and will celebrate his 5th birthday in August.

So far, it's been a sleepy, quiet Sunday. The dogs have been napping most of the day. Ditto for the cat. Also my daughter. I've been up but rather unproductive. Steve had to work today.

The weather couldn't be better. Finally, a blue sky with little trace of haze from all the fires. There's a breeze. The temperature is in the high 70s - maybe it will reach the low 80s - what more could you want?

  1. fun painting! I have a friend who has raised 4 puppies for canine companions none of them have made the final cut for one reason or another so they have all four at home with them!

  2. I want a new couch but don't bug my husband about it because then our big dog wouldn't get to sleep on the furniture anymore. The loveseat is the only place she has besides a chair in my bedroom whereas the little dogs can go anywhere they please. I like the idea of an IKEA couch as you can wash the cushion covers. Then Sarah could be as comfy as she'd want to be. Your dog looks quite comfy in the picture.
