On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Are they done yet?

This is the beginning of fig season here in Northern California. The two I sampled last night were large, juicy and dark-skinned, not at all like the ones I attempted to draw two weeks ago.

I'm feeling a bit bummed right now, having just learned that Beulie was released from advanced training at Canine Companions for Independence. I thought she was a wonderful dog, one who behaved appropriately in many complicated settings but apparently the trainers saw her differently. OUT! I think I know who will adopt her but I'm waiting for confirmation. Thus ends my puppy-raising career.....
