When life gives you onions, paint them!
I've decided to give up on journaling for the moment and go back to what I want a lot more - learning how to draw and paint.
I recently came across several books on botanical drawing and want to focus on that this summer. Bente Starcke King has a wonderful instructional book, BOTANICAL ART TECHNIQUES, and teaches color mixing through the layering method. My onion doesn't look like hers, but at least I can tell it's an onion and am starting to understand how only two colors can do the work of an entire palette!
my first thought was: wow, what a great looking onion. Keep on going!!
ReplyDeleteI love the light tones of blue grey in this...lovely-(hmmm...I never ever thought I would say that about an onion!) LOL :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic! It is amazing, and often surprising, what only 2 colors can do. I am learning that now too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very nice onion, Barbara!
ReplyDeleteI drew on recently and my husband said it looked like a pumpkin...sigh......
I recognized where the picture came from right away! I think you did a great job :)
