On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The rainbows are back!

The rainbows shooting off the prism in the window were dancing all over the floor this morning, the first time in almost two weeks.

We finally have blue skies, white cirrus clouds and visibility to the mountains. According to the newspaper, there are still hundreds of fires in California, most poorly contained, but for us this is a glorious day.

I celebrated by first having breakfast on the deck with my daughter and later enjoying coffee and freshly baked Greek pastries. When my eyes glommed on to the portulacas, what could I do but paint them!
