On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Strawberry season

Strawberry season in northern California lasts almost the entire year. The shacks start opening in April, are open daily throughout most of the spring and all summer and early fall, then begin tapering off during late October and early November. How lucky can we be!

Here are two photos I took one year ago and a new journal page to celebrate the season.

  1. I was out in Simi Valley for Mother's Day with my daughter and her family. That is near Oxnard another huge strawberry growing region but in southern California. We paid $11 for a half flat of strawberries. They were great. Is the price similar where you live?
