The lady at the well
Hidden near the town of Kildare, in County Kildare, is a small park with a well and statue honoring St. Brigid.
Following her namesake, the Celtic goddess Brigid, St. Brigid cared for animals, the poor and others in need. She was a 5th century woman who presided over a dual monastery with both men and women, a tradition of Celtic spirituality.
My drawing doesn't nearly do the site justice, it's really one of those little gems off the path that is well worth the effort to locate.
How wonderful to be in such a beautiful place and be able to capture your memories in art -- hope to go to Ireland one day too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eva. This has been so much fun for me to do! - Barbara
ReplyDeleteI think it's very nicely done. While looking at your drawings of Ireland I got to thinking that it's really awesome that you sit in these places for a while to sketch. So often we walk through a place and don't get to sit and absorb it - not only the sights but the sound and smell of it. What a great way to travel!
