On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The lady at the well

Hidden near the town of Kildare, in County Kildare, is a small park with a well and statue honoring St. Brigid.

Following her namesake, the Celtic goddess Brigid, St. Brigid cared for animals, the poor and others in need. She was a 5th century woman who presided over a dual monastery with both men and women, a tradition of Celtic spirituality.

My drawing doesn't nearly do the site justice, it's really one of those little gems off the path that is well worth the effort to locate.

  3. I think it's very nicely done. While looking at your drawings of Ireland I got to thinking that it's really awesome that you sit in these places for a while to sketch. So often we walk through a place and don't get to sit and absorb it - not only the sights but the sound and smell of it. What a great way to travel!
