On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Call me colorful

I wish I could draw! I wish I could paint! But, no matter what, I can make it colorful!

  1. It's super! You CAN draw and you CAN paint! We always want to do photorealism or close to it but look Monet, Picasso and so many others who got their idea across with dabs of paint, strange arrangements and so on. Be kind to yourself. I would have recognized this as a bowl full of luscious fruit even if you hadn't put words on it. I love the shapes, the vantage point and the color. Put a matte and frame on it and hang it up on the wall. I wish I could show you a picture of a bowl of fruit my sister bought and has hanging in her kitchen. Yours is just as nice. Really.

  2. Love the fruitbowl. I agree with freebird. Did you use Pan Pastels?

  3. Thank you both. Meg -- I used watercolor pencil for fruit and bowl and then went around the page smudging Pan Pastels. - Barbara

Sweetie, you ARE drawing and painting. You're lightyears ahead of people who REALLY can't.
