On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Airport art

There is a fascinating exhibit in the Atlanta international airport terminal composed entirely of business cards. Covering a wall nearly the length of a football field, it reads, "Let each man pass his days in that endeavor wherein his gift is greatest" - Propertus. I've never heard of Propertus, but he sounds like an ancient Roman with a universal prayer, the desire of all of us to do the work for which we are suited, something that fits us and that which we enjoy. Clever was the artist (don't know who) who came up with the idea of making the quotation in business cards. I'm only showing a tiny portion here -- and the original is across the wall, panoramic style -- but you'll get the idea.
