On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Mystery solved!

Calendula arvensis

The mysterious flowering weed or wildflower is the wild calendula. It is considered invasive and undesirable, which could have fooled me since it looks like the vineyards are planting it on purpose.

I'm struggling along in my watercolor class. Today I worked on another doorway, not yet finished and not going particular well. (sigh) My drawing skills have improved since I began taking it seriously (almost a year ago) but watercolor confounds me. The color pulls me in -- I want to work in color -- but it sure is hard to get things looking right!
