On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Walking through the open door

I have a fascination for doorways and pathways so was delighted when our watercolor teacher offered a photograph from her collection that I could adapt. What is behind this door, don't you want to know?

Of course it rained again today -- are you getting tired of the daily weather report? I went to chemotherapy but without Beulie, my four-footed security blanket. She hasn't written or called or anything!

I had a surreal experience today and it goes like this. I had to make a court appearance in another state by telephone this morning. It was voluntary and I was happy to do it but explained to the attorney that I would be enroute to chemotherapy and could be reached by cell phone and I would park and be available. Everything happened as planned. The conference call came through, I pulled over to a nearby parking lot, left the engine running so I'd be warm and cozy and turned off the radio. The judge asked me to identify myself, which I did. Satisfied, he said, "Okay, I'll put you under oath. Raise your right hand..." So there I was, parked in the hinterlands in the rain, the windshield wipers sloshing, and I've got my arm up as though he could see. I mean, he didn't know if I did what he said, he didn't know if I'd crossed my fingers, and I'm sitting there in the rain with my arm up, obedient to a fault! Oh, lady, see a shrink!

  2. That is so funny about being under oath in a parked, running car on a cell phone! And I'm glad that you are still in remission.
