On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

It's all about the rain

It rained all day today and it's raining now. It rained yesterday and before that and the forecast is for more rain tomorrow and the next day and the next. Whatever fears of drought were here earlier, they're gone and now the fear is of flooding, an annual January concern. I love the rain. The rainy season is my favorite time of year. I don't miss skidding on ice in the Midwest, I'm not one for cheap adrenalin, but I love the sound of rain. I ran several errands today, all in the rain, on purpose I chose to drive in the rain. The car was warm and cozy -- my favorite word, again -- and Brix was in the backseat keeping me company. The radio was on, nice classical music, and the rain was strumming the roof, the wipers were keeping rhythm and it just rained. I went to the Post Office to mail a package, a drugstore to catch the sales, the UPS store to send a fax, the donut shop for a cup of coffee and a private treat, the vet for Heartgard and flea stuff, a bookstore to browse, a sandwich store later for... well, a sandwich, a grocery store to use their ATM, a thrift shop to look around and buy... nothing and I got a haircut because I was feeling shaggy. It was such a productive day, I got everything crossed off my list and I loved every minute because I got to do it all in the rain!
