On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Winter means cozy

My favorite word is "cozy." I like the word, I like the feeling, I like winter 'cause it's when you can turn it into a verb, as in "cozy up" with a good book. You don't get cozy in the summer, it's a wintertime thing, the reason winter is my favorite season. Tonight it's raining, all the better, because that's when books beg to be read.

All by saying, I've been sitting up a few nights, wrapped in blankets with KDFC playing classical music in the background, with a great cozy read. Elizabeth Berg is one of my favorite authors and I loved this one, DREAM WHEN YOU'RE FEELING BLUE. It's set in World War II, and gives the women's perspective when they stay stateside and observe history from the letters sent from their men, from the soldiers they meet at dances and from those who become part of their own lives.

  1. Barbara, "Kozy" is adorable! I could easily spend more time than is good for me playing mouse with her.

That's some list of resolutions you got there. Hope the pursuit of them makes for a warm, cozy, happy year.
