On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

I don't have any pictures to post this evening but I wanted to write anyway. Today was a wonderful day. I facilitated a girls' group at Juvenile Hall for an hour and the kids were polite and receptive. I showed them how they could keep a gratitude journal and gave them some art supplies so they could decorate their own. I promised them that if they maintained a gratitude journal daily they would see welcome changes. I firmly believe that we can retrain our minds to focus on what's good and wonderful in this world just by listing five good things each day. It's hard to stay depressed when awareness is organized in such a positive direction.

Later I went to a Chinese restaurant in Novato with friends. Beulie stayed under the table happily chewing on a toy. I wasn't home until after 10:00 pm, a late night for an old lady, but hey! it's Friday night!
