On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Big, beautiful cat

Sometimes I like to stay up late when the household is quietly sleeping and just draw. Last night I tried to copy this jaguar from a photo. The longer I drew, the more I saw and the more I loved the cat and wanted to "get things right." I'm hoping to use the same photo for a watercolor painting later this week. But for this first attempt I simply used a charcoal pencil in my Moleskine sketchbook.

Animals are difficult, with the hair and fur. This turned out really nice. Keep up the wonderful work.
