On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Now I know what a loon is

This afternoon I painted this loon in my watercolor class. During the critique portion of the lesson the instructor says, "And here is Barbara's loon....." and I blinked because I thought I'd painted a duck! But those who are wiser than I nodded, a loon, so now I know.

Nice work..to me it also looks like a duck and you can hit me with a loon over the head and I still won't know what it is..is a loon a type of duck? Nice details on the feathers.

Very, very nice! I would've thought it was a duck, too. Goes to show I don't know a duck from a loon.
