On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Doggy, doggy, what are you thinking of?

I was walking around the house with my camera, snapping pictures of this and that, and noticed Parisse dozing on the sofa. Clearly I disturbed her rest, but what was going on in her doggy mind besides that?

I tried one last value study of tree leaves (don't know what kind) for the pastel class tomorrow night. I have so many questions -- does it matter if you work dark to light or is it light to dark? What's the difference between soft and hard pastels (Rembrandt and Nupastel)? -- they feel the same to me but the boxes are clearly labeled. When do you use which one? I'm feeling challenged....

  1. What a beautiful lab. and I know just what you mean - they always look like they are so deep in thought. I hope you enjoy your class - I can't wait to see what you learn.
