A home for a gnome
In our community there is a bike path, 1-1/2 miles long, maintained by volunteers. My section is an entire city block long and I'm supposed to mow, weed, clip and otherwise keep it looking cared for. Yesterday and today I was out there with a power mower, the push kind, doing my thing when CLUNK! I ran right into a largish rock hidden in the weeds and the mower died in shock. I was sure I'd permanently killed it, but no, it later revived. Anyway, pondering life as I do when I "garden," I decided to take the rock home and paint it, using ideas I'd seen in Lin Wellford's book, PAINTING HOUSES, COTTAGES AND TOWNS ON ROCKS. I'm a beginner in everything, remember, even in following her directions, and I'd never painted on a rock before. I used acrylics but I wish I'd had a finer brush for some of the thatch lines. Anyway, it's supposed to be a gnome's home with a thatched roof. And it was fun to do even though I'm not at all happy with the outcome.
Oh my gosh, what a cute idea!!
