On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Down-Stay Doggy

When I'm raising puppies I find that they're more likely to stay right where I want them if I give them a little blankee to mark the spot. It isn't meant to be a dog bed, thick and cushy, but more a little map meaning, "Stay down here." So I've started making them -- cute prints, a nice filling for shape, some tufting to keep it together. This training is useful even for family pets if you take them to friends' homes or public places which are pet friendly. And this one was fun to make.

This is my big guy, Brix. He weighs 75 lbs. so there's no way he would fit on this dinky 18" x 22" mat. But that isn't the point. The point is that he's staying right where I asked him to be.
