On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Vacation read

No vacation is complete without a good read, right? This was mine, FLOOR SAMPLE by Julia Cameron. You probably have to either love memoir writing or be an ARTIST'S WAY fan to fully appreciate this book -- but I happen to be both so I really, really liked this book. I had no idea what this woman has gone through to make herself who she is today. And I don't think I had the faintest idea of what real work looks like until I read her struggle.

  1. Thanks for alerting me to this book, Barbara! I'm a Julia Cameron fan so must look out for this one next time I'm at Border's bookshop.
